Happy lunar new year

It's that time of the year again!

We have done pigging out over Christmas and the New Year. After a good breather, we now have the occasion where Chinese all over the globe celebrate. What better way to party then with what was Green spot but now more so F&N Orange drink. In fact, it's the drink to be having like what Coke is to Christmas. There's also the Yeo's Chrysanthemum drink. Then we have the bak kwa (grilled sweet meat; mostly chicken or pork), kua chi (melon seeds; black mostly but green tea is getting more popular nowadays), pistachio nuts, kana (sourish sweet preserved olives), rabbit sweets, steam boats and not forgetting yummy delectable cookies.

Yes, the goodies we are offering are cashew nut cookies or moon-shaped butter cookies.

They have been a firm family favourite for the longest time and we would love you to get some to share with your close ones too.

If you are tired of commercially available Chinese New Year offerings out there and are serious about presenting a gift of freshly made yummies. Maybe you just want to have a whole box to yourself while watching T.V. There is also a wide range of cupcakes you can choose from.

For payment details and orders please contact Terence Low through email terlow@hotmail.com now.

*A complimentary gift for cookie orders of more than 5 boxes.

Another good review

Getting real busy but busy is always a good problem.

It's when it's dead quiet with nobody coming by and you are looking at the watch and can't help that life is just dragging it's feet about like it has worn iron boots that weigh almost a ton. That is just crazily unbearable that you almost want to pull out your hair.

So yes, working in a restaurant in the daytime and baking in the nighttime keeps me going.

Testimonial

"Hi Terence. The cupcakes were a hit - the kids LOVED them! The teachers want the recipe;) hope you managed to get some sleep. Thank you!"

To cupcakes with love

Our ever so popular Black White Cupcakes^

Cupcakes we do, cupcakes we love and cupcakes we pour our heart and soul into.

Do we do pastries? (This was a question we got from someone from the Asian Food Channel) The answer to that is not in the near future. Whole cakes? Working on that one but after being exhausted after work, that is probably going to take some time too.

However, if you are looking for cupcakes, we will gladly do them. Above is the answer to those who love to see how it looks like before they click on the order-me-a-cupcake button. Few words needed to say how some fall head over heals for a chocolate cupcake.

Happy birthday to you

My son's birthday and he got himself a delicious 9"x9" vanilla cake with oreo crumbs tossed in with strawberry topping and vanilla buttercream icing that I freshly baked earlier so he could share with his friends in school.

He attends playgroup as how they call it. It's a stage below nursery.

To my amazement, all of them were really kuai when it came to the birthday song singing and cake-cutting session. Even when it came to photo time, they gathered in a rather orderly fashion I must add except for the odd child who kept wanting to walk in between the tables.

When all the cake had been distributed, we went on to give out the goody bags. Real happy to see all the joy in their faces. My son was particularly proud that he got to be a sort of celebrity for the day. And he gave a resounding yes when we asked, "Was the cake nice?"

A retail shop still awaits

A few calls have been coming in to ask where we are located. There was even one recently from threesixzero productions to do a location shoot for a drama serial. Enticing and interesting as it may sound but sorry to disappoint. We have got no physical shopfront yet.

We are still in the planning stages so nothing is carved in stone. To have a successful business going, it is of importance to find a good location with low rentals. As it is currently in Singapore, these two factors put together is almost like an oxymoron thus we are still exhaustively in search of that ideal spot. Just watch this space to find out more...

Suggestions are most welcome.

Failed carnival, we shall do better next time!

We were at a carnival over Thursday and Friday at a certain University.

Boy was it a lesson. A harsh one at that. There were only a handful of stalls present with no stalls selling clothes or accessories. Sales was appalling to say the least. There was some spurts of traffic but even when you gave them away free, people just refused. I just do not understand what happened. Alot were just not interested in food anymore.

I believe we were one of the last ones to confirm participation at the event. Still, there were neighbours who sold same products as I did namely, a muffin stall and a brownie stall. Surely, if they couldn't get people to do burgers or sausages due to food preparation restrictions, they could still get e.g. stalls selling sweets, chocolates, cookies... Now how creative or hardworking were the organisers?

To think that they had the cheek to want to charge $100 per day. Even commercial bazaars do not do such daylight robbery rentals.

There was a supposed World Record event held with only all of 170 odd people there. The last I remembered of a World Record held at ACJC, 10000 people were present for the musical chairs event!

On hindsight, I probably should have been more vigilant in checking the market. Always a next time to try out.
